Cree Innovation and Technology Corp. (Cree IT) is a female Indigenous-owned technology corporation based in Hay River, Northwest Territories. We specialize in enterprise-grade IT infrastructure, advanced security systems, and digital presence for Northern organizations. We don't just work in the North, we live here! We understand that in a remote community, a technology failure isn't an inconvenience, it's a critical operational risk. We build, deploy, and manage systems designed to thrive despite isolation, distance, and extreme weather.
Our Story
The Ultimate Stress Test: Zero Single Points of Failure.
Cree IT wasn't conceptualized in a boardroom, it was forged in a disaster zone. During the catastrophic 2022 Hay River floods, we lost our physical location and everything in it.
We were left with nothing but a truck, a laptop, and a generator.
We don't view that experience as a tragedy, we view it as the most valuable business lesson we’ve ever received. It taught us the absolute necessity of redundancy. It proved that you can never bet everything on a single system, a single location, or a single connection. You must always build a mirror. If you lose one site, the backup must instantly take over.
We built Cree IT entirely around that hard-won philosophy. We don't just set up networks or install hardware we design resilient, mirrored infrastructure. Whether it is implementing failovers for managed networks, redundant local and cloud storage for CCTV, or resiliant web hosting, we build systems assuming the primary will fail.

Our approach to technology is driven by a singular mandate: uncompromising reliability. For too long, Northern organizations have paid premium prices for fragile, off-the-shelf "southern solutions" that look great on a sales brochure but fail the moment they hit Northern realities.
Standard corporate IT assumes clean power grids and uninterrupted internet access. Up here, those assumptions are a massive operational liability. We don't sell our clients bloated systems they don't need; we design highly targeted, rugged infrastructure built specifically for the extremes.
We specialise our deployments for "local survivability." This means when the power grid fluctuates violently, our hardware is protected by rigorous power conditioning and redundant backups. When the fiber lines are cut or satellite uplinks go completely dark, our networks, CCTV, and professional communication systems are designed to continue functioning autonomously.

When off-the-shelf products fail to meet the extreme demands of Northern industrial worksites, we build our own.
